History:
-Originated in 1892 as a reformatory for women.
-Opened in 1901 under new jurisdiction
-Originally for women 16-30 who were convicted of a misdemeanor
-When Auburn prison for women closed, the inmates were transferred here. The name of the facility was then officially named Bedford Hills Correctional Facility.
